Nasal polyps are noncancerous growths that develop on the lining of the nasal passages and sinuses. They are soft, painless, and usually result from chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa. These polyps are typically teardrop-shaped or grape-like in appearance and vary in size. While they are usually benign, they can cause problems by blocking the nasal passages and sinus openings.
